Graphic Design

Here you can view my graphic design projects in depth, ordered from most to least recent. I have included some of my major design projects since 2022.

Branding: OCEJ Youth Committee

Started February 2024 - Ongoing

When I founded a youth committee under the Orange County Environmental Justice nonprofit organization, I was on a mission to empower youth to stand up for environmental issues permeating their community.

In Orange County, environmental risks are prominent, yet general awareness is not. Many living in Santa Ana, Anaheim, and other cities highly populated by disadvantaged communities live blindly amidst toxic soil lead contamination, poor water quality, and extreme air pollution.

I knew that gathering a group of students to combat these issues was not enough. We had to build a powerful and compact social media presence, as well as a recognizable identity. As the founder and head chair of the organization, I was determined to design a unique, consistent brand across all platforms. Now, just a few months later, we have established an impactful presence across school districts, have networked across Orange County youth, and garnered recognition from environmental professionals, all with the help of one logo.

Merchandise: Senior Spirit

June - August 2024

The summer before my senior year, I was given the special opportunity to design our Class of 2025 senior merchandise.

The color palette and text were restricted by our school administration, but I worked with what I had to create a trendy, wearable design for my class. It was super cool seeing everyone wear my designs, pretty much everyday!

Designing: The Kindset Company

Started June 2022 - Ended May 2024

KINDSET is a product company created by high school students on a mission to spread kindness across the community. I joined as a product development intern in the summer of 2022.

Our team was quickly tasked with designing the company t-shirt. I had little-to-no product designing experience, but I felt motivated to create a pleasing design that conveyed the company's message of kindness. After dozens of scrapped designs, I drew a watering can pouring the words "kind" onto a sprouting plant. The company loved the idea.

It took many hours and hundreds of trial-and-error for my first official design project, yet the experience gifted me with a pride and joy like never before. I realized that I held a talent and love for graphic design, which encouraged me to explore other possibilities down this path.

Directing: Illuminate Business

Started February 2022 - Ended October 2023

In the spring of 2022, I was recruited as a graphic designer for a student-led nonprofit, Illuminate Business. The organization was freshly founded, and had zero social media presence. I told the founder, "Give me a year, and I will build your brand into something big."

I started by establishing its brand. I chose the colors navy blue and orange as the organization's main color palette. I decided on a set of fonts that were to be used across all social media posts.

After a month of creating the posts by myself, I was promoted to the Executive Director position, leading a team of graphic designers. Every week, I held a 30-minute meeting with 10+ graphic designers, guiding each of them on how to design according to the Illuminate Business brand. As new designers came in, I dedicated my time to giving them a comprehensive training session. Although I no longer design for Illuminate Business, the graphic design team is still going strong, using the same design criteria that I had established two years ago.

In February 2022, Illuminate Business had 0 followers. By the time I left my role in October 2023, Illuminate Business had over 2K followers.
